<BOTSWANA: NEW TYPE APPROVAL GUIDELINE>

BOCRA issued the Type Approval Guideline 2023, which revises the type approval guidelines in Botswana.

The main changes are as follows:

 

1.    Repair Service Center

▶  An acceptable repair service center is required to be established in Botswana for each type of equipment that is registered unless an exemption is secured from BOCRA.

▶  If an equipment supplier wishes to use repair service outside Botswana, they should seek approval, with justification, from BOCRA for such an arrangement.

 

2.    Type-Approved Products

▶  Once a model of equipment has been type approved, all other users and suppliers in Botswana can use or supply the same equipment without further type approval, regardless of which entity/company/individual got the equipment type approved. (a Dealer’s License and a Radio License are still required for radio transmitter equipment)

With the guideline, BOCRA also published Type Approval Technical Specifications and Technical Standards to change the applicable standards as follows:
