CITC has officially issued its WLAN Regulations on 10th February 2022. The regulation and specifications officially enable the introduction and use of Wi-Fi 6E technology in Saudi Arabia over the entire 5925 – 7125 MHz band as table below:
Frequency Band (MHz) |
Environment | Max. Radiated PSD (mW/MHz) |
Max. EIRP (mW) |
5925 – 7125 | Indoor (Indoor Access Point) |
10 | 1000 |
Indoor (Client device) |
10 | 250 | |
The band can be used for WLAN applications with more relaxed power restrictions under a lightly licensed regime subject to the light licensing regulation that will be issued by CITC. |
- l The use of WLAN applications is prohibited in oil platforms, vehicles, trains, boats, unmanned aircraft systems and aircrafts, except that indoor access points are permitted to operate in the 5.925-6.425 GHz bands in large aircraft while flying above 10,000 feet.
CITC has also accordingly updated the Specification for Data Communication Equipment operating in License-Exempt Frequency Bands:
Frequency Band (MHz) |
Max. Output Power |
Usage | Standard | Comments |
5925-7125 | 1000mW EIRP, 10mW/MHz |
Indoor Access Point Wideband data transmission |
EN 301-489-17 | LBT and TPC shall be implemented. |
250mW EIRP, 10mW/MHz PSD |
Indoor Client Device Wideband data transmission |
EN 301-489-17 | LBT and TPC shall be implemented. |
