The circular regarding Extension of the last date of implementation of IS 1293: 2019 - Plugs and Socket-outlets for Household and Similar Purposes of Rated Voltage up to and Including 250 V and Rated Current up to and Including 16 A is issued with h the approval of the Competent Authority.
IS 1293: 2005 has been revised as IS 1293: 2019, which was previously scheduled to be mandatory by 23 October 2022.
According to the circular, the last date of implementation of IS 1293: 2019 has now been extended upto 23 October 2023 in view of the operational difficulties being faced by the Industry in the certification of the product. Therefore, both IS 1293:2005 and IS 1293:2019 are acceptable until the extended date.
Accordingly, the ‘Information to Industry regarding implementation of IS 1293’ Version II dated 25.02.2021 has been updated and hosted on BIS website for reference to all.
The other provisions of implementation laid down in circular no. CMD-III/16: IS 1293 dated 29 September 2020 shall remain the same.
