ANATEL has issued a complementary instruction for certification of RF modules included in telecom and non-telecom products. With a view to standardizing the certification and homologation procedure for RF modules included in telecom products and in non-telecom products, ANATEL has presented the following instructions:
1. Module classification
A. Removable Module
- RF circuit consisting of a board independent of the main board (motherboard) of the final product that can be connected through solder or slot.
B. Non-removable Module
- RF circuit designed as part of the main board (motherboard) circuit, making it impossible to remove.
* CHIPSET should not be considered a certifying module.
2. Instruction
CERTIFICATION OF TELECOM AND NON -TELECOM PRODUCTS CONTAINING RF MODULES
Type | Module Slots | Situation | Removable Module | Non-Removable Module |
Non-telecom product containing RF module (e.g. TV, Refrigerator) |
One or more slots |
All situations | RF Module Certification (End product is optional) |
End Product Certification |
Non-telecom product containing RF module for the main purpose of its operation (e.g. BT Earbuds) |
End Product Certification
Telecom Product | One slot |
Only one RF technology |
End Product Certification (Note 1)
Possibility of using RF modules with different technologies (BT, WiFi, 3G, LTE, etc.) |
End Product Certificate for each type of modules (Note 2) |
|||
More than one slot |
With RF modules of the same specifications |
End Product Certificate (single configuration) |
||
With RF modules of different technologies |
Final product certificate (single configuration) covering all technologies and classifying the product by main purpose (Note 3) |
Note 1: Even though there is a possibility of alternate exchange of RF module models, single certification can cover all alternatives when the modules’ technology is same.
Note 2: Model names and/or version identifications for each telecom product configuration should be different.
Note 3: For Removable Module, it is possible to include in the same certificate different configuration versions of a certain model, provided that the classification of the main RF module is the same, differing only in the classification of modules with secondary functions.
To certify an end product, is it possible to use test reports or supply declaration of approved RF module instead of the module’s functional test. When the Certificate of Conformity refers to the final product, in addition to the module's functional tests, EMC, electrical safety, cybernetic safety and SAR tests (if applicable) must be carried out.
