ENACOM has issued resolution 2386/2022, which informs the official allocation of the first 5G band in Argentina. According to the resolution, Argentina will use 3300-3600 MHz of n78 band in TDD mode for this service within the country. A bandwidth of 100 MHz will be assigned to each carrier.
For other services using 3300-3600 MHz band, ENACOM gave each service a different grace period to migrate to the newly designated frequency band as follows:
Service | Previously allowed frequency band |
Grace Period |
Newly allowed frequency band |
Fixed Service of Data Transmission and Added Value |
3300-3700 MHz | 2 years | 3600 – 3700 MHz; 10.15 – 10.65 GHz |
Television Program Transport Systems (TPTV) and Video Signal Transport Systems (STSV) |
3300-3400 MHz | 2 years | Frequency bands higher than 6 GHz available for these systems |
The stations of Radio Amateurs and Radio Amateurs by Satellite service |
3300-3400 MHz | 30 days | Cessation of the emissions |
Even though the allocation of 5G band is officially informed, ENACOM wouldn’t allow any approval containing 5G until National Directorate of Planning and Convergence department issues any standard or regulation, which may take some months. Shall keep you updated about the news.
