On June of 2023, BEE has issued a notification which gives new star rating table for LED lamps, which has been upgraded by 1 Star level as follows:
TABLE 3.2
Valid from 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2026 | |
Star rating | Luminous Efficacy (Lumen/Watt) |
1* | ≥90 and <105 |
2** | ≥105 and <120 |
3*** | ≥120 and <135 |
4**** | ≥135 and <150 |
5***** | ≥150 |
All the active star labelled models of LED lamp as per previous energy consumption standards will be automatically expired on 30th September 2023.
There are two options to continue the existing models approved – Degradation & Renewal
- Degradation: With this option, the model will be continued with degraded Star rating as per the revised energy consumption standards. (e.g., 3 Star to 2 Star)
- Renewal: With this option, the model will be able to keep its Star rating, but it should comply with the new Star rating table. Therefore, a valid test report as per the new standard is required.
The manufacturers/Permittees are required to degrade or renew their existing registered model compliant before the expiry date – 30th September 2023.
