MALAYSIA: NORMALIZATION OF SERVICES OPERATION BY SIRIM CMCS

 

SIRIM has issued Announcement No. SQASI/CMCS/1/23/0006, which updates the arrangement of services operation by CMCS, in light of the improved situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lifting of lockdown measures.

 

According to the announcement, the following announcements published during the pandemic became invalid:

1. SQASI/CMCS/1/20/0004 EXTENSION OF MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO) (formerly MOVEMENT RESTRICTION ORDER) BY THE GOVERNMENT which had allowed to grant interim approval for 3 month with photographs of the sample of the product for Type approval Applications of products requiring connectivity testing.
2. SQASI/CMCS/1/21/0011 NOTICE ON CMCS SERVICES OPERATION PURSUANT TOTAL NATIONWIDE LOCKDOWN BY THE GOVERNMENT which had allowed remote testing for products that requires connectivity testing.

As both above announcements are no longer be applicable, the 3 months interim approval will no longer be in effect. In addition, for products that require connectivity testing, applicants are required to conduct the tests physically with the dedicated officer in charge.
