ANATEL issued Act No. 13011, which additionally postpones the mandatory application of Act No. 5159.
Previously, on April 29 of 2022, ANATEL issued Act No. 5159, which and revokes Act No. 3481 and approves the new Technical Requirements and Test Procedures for Conformity Assessment of Chargers Used in Mobile Cellular Telephone. The biggest change of the new regulation is that it requires a new mechanical testing applied to the power plug.
The original implementation date of the new act was October 26 of 2022, but the mandatory application date was postponed to October 21 of 2023.
Pursuant to Act No. 13011, the Act No. 5159 revokes Act No. 3481 and becomes mandatory 720 days after the date of its publication in ANATEL’s Electronic Service Bulletin. Therefore, until April 14 of 2024, manufacturers will be able to choose the old act 3481/2019 or the new act 5159/2022 to certify their mobile phone chargers.
