THAILAND: UPDATING SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR 7 APPLIANCES

TISI has announced the update of 7 electronic appliances as controlled products as follows:

Appliances up to 250V
July 2024 - Applicable Standard to TIS 60335 Part 2 (23)-2564 (2021)
- Additional requirements and tests to prevent heat generation & malfunctions
Residencial Frying pan and
Fryer up to 5L
July 2024 - Applicable Standard to TIS 60335 Part 2 (13)-2564 (2021)
- Commercial Fryers are not covered
- Marking & Labeling requirements are amended.
Room Air Conditioner
Energy Efficiency
January 2025 - Applicable Standard to TIS 2134-2565 (2022)
- Scope has become more comprehensive
1) the total cooling capacity up to 18,000W & 250V for single-phase electricity / 600V for multi-phase electricity
2) ducted air conditioners with a total cooling capacity of less than 8000W, which are intended to operate at an external static pressure of less than 25 pascals, etc.

- Applicable Standard to TIS 2461-25XX, which is in line with IEC Standards
Residential Switches
up to 440V
for both inside & outside
March 2024 - Applicable Standard to TIS 824 Part 1-2562 (2019)
- The scope is specified to cover the boxes for electrical switches, and also to cover electrical switches incorporating pilot light, electronic switches, remote controlled switches (RCS), time-delay switches (TDS), electrical switches and accessories for use in electronic systems of houses and firemen’s switches, etc.
Low-voltage switchgear and control gear assembly June 2024 - Newly added
- Applicable Standard to TIS 1436 Part 3-2564 (2021)
- Covers Electrical Distribution Boards used in residences
AC Electric Motors
Three-phase induction type
August 2025 - Applicable Standard to TIS 866 Part 30 (101)-2561 (2018)
- Excludes the motor assembled in the machine with 0.12-15kW.
- Important amendments to the the original standard referring to the IEC standard energy efficiency classification.
