China medical industry is still growing rapidly.
As of 2022, the Chinese medical device market was 1.3 trillion yuan, growing 6.1 in size compared to 2013.
The Chinese medical device market has a global market share of 27.5%, with an average annual growth rate of more than 12% over the past five years. China is a market that cannot be abandoned despite its policy of using domestic medical devices and increased barriers to licensing.
In particular, as demand for medical devices increased globally due to COVID-19, China's medical device exports increased significantly.
In addition, the status of medical device introduction in basic medical institutions in China is still insufficient, so it can be seen that it has great growth potential.
The China government aims to establish 120 regional medical centers during the period 2021-2025, which is expected to continue to increase demand for medical device products.
According to National Medical Products Administration(NMPA) data, Korea has ranked fourth in the number of imported medical devices in China for 10 years, following the United States, Germany, and Japan.
In addition, looking at the health industry export performance for the first half of this year announced by KHIDI (Korea Health Industry Development Institute), Korea's second largest medical device exporter is China.
In order to enter the China medical market, all medical devices must obtain NMPA certification.
The medical device registration certification is limited to a 5 year validity period, and NMPA extension (renewal) registration must be completed 6 months prior to the expiration date.
