Taiwan TFDA announced on June 30, 2024 that it is implementing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to ensure the quality of cosmetics, and GMP for cosmetics will be officially implemented from July 1, 2024.
The manufacturing sites for sunscreens, hair dyes, perm products, antiperspirants, deodorants, and home-use teeth whitening products containing peroxide will be the first group required to comply with the GMP requirements starting from July 1st of this year. The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) will simultaneously initiate on-site inspections to verify their compliance with GMP.
GMP will be made mandatory in stages, the manufacturing sites for baby, lip, eye, non-medicinal toothpaste, and mouthwash cosmetics are required to comply with cosmetics GMP on July 1, 2025.
Taiwan GMP requirements for cosmetics manufacturing sites are based on ISO 22716, aligning with international standards. Furthermore, starting 1 July 2025, all cosmetic manufacturing sites will be expected to comply with these GMP requirements.
