JNM Global 제이엔엠글로벌 2022. 9. 22. 11:46

ICTA will go ahead with its plan to open up a new part of the spectrum, 5945-6525 MHz, for Wi-Fi in Mauritius. The project is welcomed by all those who responded to the consultation.

The ICTA's proposal to open part of the 6 GHz frequency band was the subject of a public consultation from June 28 to July 11. A total of five contributors responded to the consultation, including operators, equipment vendors and other organizations.

All contributors responded positively to the Authority's project to open up the 5945-6425 MHz frequency band for Wi-Fi in Mauritius. The contributors also confirmed that they do not foresee any risk of interference to fixed satellite services and fixed point-to-point services, considering the technical parameters proposed by the consultation document.

The official document of the decision was published this Thursday, August 4, 2022 on the Authority's website. It is entitled “DECISION FOR ALLOCATION OF ADDITIONAL SPECTRUM IN THE FREQUENCY RANGE 5945-6425 MHz FOR BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS SERVICES IN MAURITIUS” Ref. ICTA/DEC/01/22.

According to the decision, the frequency band 5945-6425 MHz be made available for WAS/RLAN use as follows:

  • INDOOR LOW POWER (ILP) devices restricted to indoor use only. Outdoor use of those Indoor Low Power devices (including in road vehicles) is not permitted;
  • Very Low Power (VLP) devices for both indoor and outdoor use, except for fixed outdoor use. Use of Very Low Power devices on radio-controlled models is prohibited

The technical conditions and standardization requirements for the new frequency band are as follows:
