ANATEL has issued Act No. 9281, which approves the technical requirements for assessing the conformity of the Smart TV Box product type, and revokes Clause 9 - REQUIREMENTS APPLICABLE TO EQUIPMENT FOR ACCESS TO MULTIMEDIA CONTENT - of the technical requirements for assessing the conformity of the Access Terminal Station.
The scope of the new technical requirements is the Smart TV Box type product, characterized as terminal equipment intended for accessing audio-visual content via the Internet and for displaying the content on another device with a screen.
Personal computers, TVs, cell phones, tablets, and cable TV equipment are not covered by the technical requirements.
The Act has been effective from the date of its publication – 13 July 2023, with the application of the technical requirements for the Smart TV Box being mandatory from 11 September 2023.
For the already approved equipment, the new technical requirements are applied in 180 days after the date of publication of the Act or at the time of renewal of the certification, whichever comes first.
