MEXICO: IFETEL announces guidelines for use of IFT Seal

 

On December 26, 2023, IFETEL of Mexico published guidelines for the use of the IFT Seal for telecommunications or broadcasting products, which will come into effect 180 business days from the publication. Through these guidelines, IFETEL presents requirements that approval certificate holders, subsidiaries and importers must comply with when using the seal.

Details of the label usage guidelines are as follows:

1.  Things to follow when using IFT Seal

1)  Manufacturers should include the seal in the marking or labeling of telecommunication or broadcasting devices.

2)  IFT seals should be printed in 100% positive black or 100% negative black, complying with the protection area and minimum printing dimensions:

 

3)  The IFT seal should be legible without magnification and easily visible to the end user.

4)  Approval certificate holders can use the IFT seal only while the approval certificate for approved products is valid.

5)  Labeling of approved products must include the prefix “IFT”, the approval certificate number, and the IFT seal:

* The IFT seal may not be used in isolation and using the seal alone does not conform IFETEL labeling requirements.

 

2.  Cases where the use of the IFT seal is prohibited

1)  When there is no valid CoH issued by IFETEL applicable to the product.

2)  When the approval certificate number is not posted in the list of approved devices on the IFETEL’s website.

3)  When the specification of the seal is different from those provided in the guidelines.

4)  For products not subject to approval
