On 6 November 2025, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) updated and released the list of restricted cosmetic ingredients.
The key revisions are as follows:
As Taiwan has prohibited the use of boric acid in all cosmetics since 1 January 2025, boric acid and its salts, which were previously restricted ingredients, have been removed from the restricted list.
In addition, the number of restricted ingredients has increased from 186 to 219, with 33 new ingredients added (excluding ethanol), and 74 ingredients revised.
Stakeholders considering exporting cosmetics to Taiwan are advised to review the restricted and prohibited cosmetic ingredients to ensure regulatory compliance.
