On July 18 2022, ANATEL published Act No. 8104/2022(Technical Requirements for Conditions of Use of Radiofrequencies for Frequency Modulated Sound Broadcasting Services, Radio Retransmission in the Amazon Legal, Community Broadcasting, Radio and Private Limited – for Drive-in Theater) and Act No. 9751/2022(Technical Requirements for Conditions of Use of Radio Frequencies for Sound and Image Broadcasting and Television Retransmission Services). Both regulations will come into force on August 1.
The proposals of the two acts underwent public consultation and received more than one hundred contributions. The edition of the acts complies with the provisions of the Regulation on Channeling and Conditions of Use of Radiofrequencies for Broadcasting Services and its Ancillaries, approved by Resolution No. 721/2020.
In the review of technical requirements that resulted in the edition of the two acts, ANATEL included the Radio Service, recently created for the dissemination of information such as traffic conditions, accidents, weather conditions and execution of works, for example, necessary for the safety of users of the highways. The Agency also established rules for the Private Limited Service - for Drive-in Theater, intended for the transmission of audio related to the exhibition of films, much in demand at drive-ins during the pandemic. Both services can be tuned to FM receivers in the 76 to 108 MHz band.
